Room 202 Head Gesture VR Game, Free for Your Oculus Rift

Room 202

ROOM 202 places the viewer in the midst of an interrogation, their hands and legs tied and mouth gagged. As such only by nodding yes or no can they progress through the story and ultimately escape.

For most of the general public VR gaming doesn’t yet include gestural or verbal interaction. So the Game developer Play Nicely wanted to present an experience that justified not being able to gesticulate or walk (being tied to a chair) and not being able to talk (being gagged).

This experiment in natural navigation techniques has demonstrated it is possible to progress a narrative by just nodding in response to questions and it actually feels very natural. Furthermore we found playing with the timing and intensity of nod gives further variation to the narrative options and that many other means of silent engagement make up a rich seam of future VR experimentation’s.
